Pakistan look to wrap up the five match Pakistan Zimbabwe
one day series when they host t their African cricketing rivals in three days
time at Multan. Pakistan have already put one hand on this series winning the
first two matches comfortably and would be hoping to wrap up the series quickly
so that can experiment with their abundant youth talent who won them the U-19
World Championships this time around.

Pakistan have selected youth over experience for this series
and the move of selecting youngsters like Kamran Hussain, Nasir Jamshed
for the first two one dayers has yielded rich dividends as Jamshed continued
his excellent form so far this series to set the tone for a simple win with
an impressive seventy four. Pakistan will be also be happy with the progress
made by fast bowler Sohail Tanvir during the past six months as he continued
his impressive form to pick up four vital wickets to derail the Zimbabwe side
and restrict them to 238. Shahid Afridi also put his stamp on the game with
a quick fire forty three off just twenty eight balls to erase all of Zimbabwe's
hopes of achievening something in this clash. On the other hand Zimbabwe look
consigned for yet another series defeat. However, they will find solace in their
impressive batting performances in the first two matches albeit against a relatively
inexperienced Pakistan attack. Zimbabwe to their credit did put a doubt or two
in the minds of the Pakistani players before Shahid Afridi hammered them to
all parts of the ground and will be looking to improve upon their work in the
run up to the series deciding one dayer at Multan.
With Pakistan leading the series 2-0, the PCB selectors have
decided to bring more youth into the side with the inclusion of Sohail Khan
and Khalid Latif. Sohail Khan in particular has impressed everyone with
his pace and bounce and it was his five wicket haul in the finals that helped
Pakistan cricket team register a fine U-19 World Cup victory. A win here would
give the Pakistani outfit a much needed morale boost after series losses against
India and South Africa while Zimbabwe on the other hand need victories if they
are to gain themselves test status anytime soon.
