The Rajasthan Royals have been by far the best outfit in the
IPL and if there was one side who would justify the IPL league title,
it would undoubtedly be the team from the Northern end of Indian. Led and Coached
by Shane Warne, the Royals have smashed every opposition ahead of them and they
will be hoping for one last run against the Chennai Superkings. The Royals come
into this clash on the back of a huge victory against the Delhi Daredevils in
the semifinals in a clash that was lit up by some brilliant all round performances
by the team from Jaipur. The likes of Shane Watson and Yusuf Pathan shone while
batting before Shane Warne displayed his wizardry with the ball. The Royals
have been in scintillating form and have only lost three in comparison to their
rivals who have lost six. While much of their success is attributed to fine
team bonding, the likes of Yusuf Pathan, Shane Watson and Sohail Tanvir have
shone and one must not underestimate the brilliant leadership abilities of skipper
Shane Warne. Despite picking up a massive nineteen wickets throughout, the Aussie
legend has not let his standards drop in the field and will be hoping for much
for the same this time around. The Rajasthan Royals will be without South African
skipper Greame Smith for this clash but he wont missed much due to the excellent
power hitting abilities of Karmal Akmal down the order.
The Chennai Superkings make the most of their fortuitous qualification into
the semifinals with a smashing win over the Kings XI Punjab outfit in the semifinals.
Bowling first, the likes of Ntini and Gony stifled the opposition before Morkel
and Muralitharan got into the act to restrict the Punjab outfit for 115, which
the Superkings chased down with much pomp. Despite missing three of their premier
batsmen in Stephen Fleming, Michael Hussey and Matthew Hayden, the Superkings
have coped up well primarily due to he performances of Parthiv Patel and Suresh
Raina up the order. The two young Indian national cricket team discards have
been in sublime touch and have consistently laid the platform for big hitters
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Morkel down the order. The Chennai Superkings however
will have the disadvantage of having to play two back-to-back matches while
the Rajasthan Royals got a day off in between. However in finals of such high
pressure, much will be decided by adrenaline and expect the Chennai Superkings
to give it their all against the Rajasthan Royals this coming Sunday 1st June
2008 at the Dr. Y Patel Satdium in Mumbai on the occasion of the Indian Premier
League final.
