Bangalore Royal Challengers have gone down without a whimper in this tournament
and much improvement needs to be done if they are to have any chance what so
ever of moving into the semifinals of the Indian Premier League. Bangalore
Royal Challengers are currently bottom of the table, have the lowest run rate
of all sites and to top it all are managed by an investor who is rather unpleased
by their showing so far in the tournament. The Royals have won just two of their
nine matches so far and might just see their tournament hopes go down the drain
with a loss to their Northern opponents. While their bowling has improved in
recent matches till Shawn Marsh decided to make a mockery of the attack in Mohali,
their batting leaves a lot to be desired with Rahul Dravid in desperate search
of ideas and inspiration. The Royal Challengers were criticised for picking
up a defensive outfit for the tournament and so it has proved as they have gone
from bad to worse in recent matches. However, the likes of Rahul Dravid,
Misbah Ul Haq and Dale Steyn are all born fighters and they will be hoping not
to go down without a fight when they come up against the Rajasthan Royals this
time around.
Unlike the recent blasts in Jaipur, the Rajasthan Royals have seen their
tournament perfectly and have almost secured a place in the semifinals. Despite
being the cheapest franchise around and with most of their purchases being deemed
second stake or a bargain at best, the Royals have left the competition far
behind and look the most confident team out there. The Royals are currently
atop the table and have won seven of their nine matches so far with much pomp.
The bowling attack of Shane Warne, Sohail Tanvir and Shane Watson has stood
up to the task while Yusuf Pathan and Greame Smith have been real revelations
in the batting order. Yusuf in particular has been immense in recent matches
and will be hoping to make up for an unfortunate run out last time around against
Delhi with a smashing performance against the Bangalore Royal Challengers this
time around.
