Trinidad &Tobago were the runner up of 2009 but this time they have to qualify
for the next stage of the tournament. Their players are very young averaging only
24.
Skipper Darren Ganga has already expressed that 2009 is the inspiration for them.
They have different plan for this time but he kept it secret promising to show
it on the ground. He also mentioned that they worked very hard over the last two
months and they will be playing like a national team. They have beaten IPL team
Kolkata Knight Riders in a warm up match this will certainly boost their confidence.
Trinidad & Tobago
Trinidad & Tobago will certainly miss their hard hitter Kieron Pollard
who has got his recognition through this tournament due to his deal with IPL
team Mumbai Indians.
His IPL team mate Dwayne Bravo has the same problem as well but Trinidad &Tobago
have players like Lendl Simmons and Adrian Barath who have done extremely well
in their domestic league. Darren Bravo and Darren Ganga are also their
key players. When it comes to bowling then they must be looking forward to Ravi
Rampaul, Rayad Emrit to perform.
Ruhuna Rhinos
Ruhuna Rhinos got the chance to participate in the tournament beating Wayamba
in the final of Sri Lankan Twenty20 league. Their skipper Mahela Udawatte
must be hoping to get some advantages from sub continental environment. Legendary
Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya is the inspiration of the team.
Forty-two years old Jayasuriya is also the oldest player of the tournament.
Their coach Warnakulasuriya has promised to give a nice performance for their
Sri Lankan fans. They will also miss Suraj Randiv due to his deal with
Chennai Super Kings, winner of the last time.
Prediction
Twenty20 is always very difficult to predict because one ball can turn the
match to either side. Both teams will be trying hard and soul to qualify for
the next stage of the tournament. On paper Trinidad &Tobago must be a stronger
team than their opponent Ruhuna Rhinos but they might be the dark horse
of the tournament.
