against Scotland in a one off clash in Edinburgh this coming Thursday
July 3rd 2008. New Zealand come into this series on the back of two consecutive
series wins against England and with a new generation of youngsters coming through
the ranks, they will be eager to notch up as many victories as possible before
they move on towards greater avenues.

New Zealand will be much relived to have secured a victory against England
last time around in the Natwest trophy. After going one down in the series,
the Kiwis fought hard to dominate four of the remaining matches, winning three.
That 3-1 victory follows u a 3-1 victory at home against England back in January
and will give Daniel Vettori and his troops much needed relief after
a terrible test series both at home and away. Vettori was without doubt, the
star of the show as his bowling performances enabled New Zealand to register
strong victories over their English opponents. The batting however, still looks
dodgy and while Scotland may not be the most highly thought of opponents, the
likes of Jamie How and Ross Taylor will need to adjust their technique
to swinging conditions in Edinburgh. One player who has been in devastating
form for the Kiwis is all rounder Jacob Oram. Oram has scored runs aplenty all
throughout the summer and his centuries against England were crucial towards
New Zealand's successes. New Zealand haven't lost to a non test playing nation
in their history and will be hoping to keep proceedings that way this coming
Thursday.
Scotland on the other hand, have drifted away in recent years after a strong
showing in the 1999 World Cup. After the retirement of all rounder Gavin Hamilton,
the Scots have struggled for quality with both the bat and the ball and they
will be hoping for better results this time around. However, under seaming conditions
, the Scots are a tough lot to combat and as Ireland showed in the 2007 World
Cup against Pakistan, Scotland might just have a trick up their sleeve
when they come up against strong favourites New Zealand this coming Thursday
3rd July 2008 in Edinburgh.
