Once again South African batting line up collapsed; as a result they were beaten
once again by Australia. This time the difference was 93 runs. These two
titans will be facing each other once again in the second ODI on Sunday, October
23 at 8:00 GMT.
Their first ODI was a rain affected match. Batting first Australia scored 183
runs for 4 and due to rain the target was set 223 runs from 29 overs. It was too
big by any means and the Proteus made it even bigger. Eventually, they only managed
129 runs losing all wickets.

None of them could score as good as former skipper Ricky Ponting and
ruling captain Michael Clarke. Ponting scored 63 runs while Clarke also contributed
44 runs. In the second ODI, South Africa must win to keep them in the competition
as it is a three match series so another lose against the tourists mean they
would definitely lose the series.
Overall, they seemed to have done the job with the bat and that would please
the Australia captain Michael Clarke.
The South African batting has been too inconsistent throughout the series,
they have brought some one day specialist but they are still way behind the
Australian side. Skipper Hashim Amla once again could not make a big score while
bowler like Dale Steyn got punished brutally by Warner.
Australia must be playing all out to get another win against their arch rival.
It seems that the Australian have done their home work very well. They are all
prepared for the tournament. Their squad also looks very strong. They will be
missing Shane Watson once again, and Mitchell Marsh will be replacing him like
the first ODI.
New sensation Patrick Cummins and one day specialist Mitchell Johnson
took six wickets together. These two will be hoping to perform once again for
their country in Port Elizabeth as well.
Australia could be the favourites going into the game but the point to be noted
here is that South Africa is a difficult side to play in any conditions.
They will come hard at the Aussies and in a three-match series, it will be nothing
better than getting a 1-1 result going into the third match.
