South Africa will be looking to complete a comprehensive
5-0 rout over the hapless West Indies and give retiring hero Shaun
Pollock a fitting farewell with a victory over the Windies in the fifth

South Africa duly completed a 4-0 lead with a comprehensive
drubbing of the West Indies bowling attack at Kingsmead Oval last time around.
Put in to bat, the West Indies got off to a solid start before an all familiar
collapse towards the end of the innings which saw them totter at 206/9. However,
an unbelievable last wicket partnership of 57 between Fidel Edwards and Jerome
Taylor took them to a very challenging 263. Makhaya Ntini was once
again the victim of the clobbering handed out to the attack by the tail enders
as his nine overs cost him a massive eighty runs with twenty four in the very
last over itself. Chasing 263, South Africa were never in any trouble and got
off to a flier courtesy of a thirty ball half century by skipper Graeme Smith.
Even though, Smith departed in the twelfth over, the team never looked in trouble
and an fine fourth wicket partnership between series hero Jimmy Duminy and Ab De Villiers took South Africa to a comfortable six wicket victory.
South Africa will know that this match and this occasion truly
merits none other than the retiring Shaun Pollock. After a wonderful
reception at Kingsmead, the capital now gears up to give one of the greatest
post- Apartheid crickets a fitting farewell and the South African team will
be looking to do the same by trouncing the Windies 5-0. On the other hand, the
West Indies will be hoping to end this series as quickly as possible after seeing
their fine start to the tour with a win in the test matches blown away by some
strong South African bowling. The Caribbean outfit have missed star players
Chris Gayle and Ramnaresh Sarwan throughout this series and will be glad
to end this series on a winning note at the Wanderers this coming Sunday 3rd
February 2008.
