Guyana face the South Australia Redbacks in Match No. 17 of the Airtel Champions League at the New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg in what is a meaningless
encounter for both the sides. South Australia have won their first three games
and top the Group B table. Guyana, on the other hand, have lost all of their
games so far and are bottom of the table.
Click for Live Score Card of South Australian Redbacks Vs Guyana Michael Klinger has been in great form for South Australia and is also the
leading run scorer in the tournament. He has scored half centuries in all the
three games and has given them excellent starts in all the games. He has been
given excellent support by Daniel Harris who has 126 runs in the tournament.
The only match in which they did not get a good start, the middle order performed
with Callum Ferguson playing a wonderful innings along with Klinger.
They would once again look to provide a good start against a Guyana bowling
attack which has been woeful so far.
None of Guyana's bowlers have an economy below eight runs an over and have largely
been ineffective. The attack too looks completely unorganized as different bowling
combinations have been tried in the three games. The dismal bowling efforts
along with poor fielding have compounded the problems.
The Guyana batting has been as bad as their bowling. The two openers, Travis
Dowlin and Sewnarine Chattergoon have struggled against all the teams and have
failed to give a good start. Lack of a good start has increased the pressure
on Ramnaresh Sarwan and he has not been able to cope it. To be fair to
him, he has tried his best, playing a decent innings against the Mumbai Indians
and got a good start against the Highveld Lions.
The South Australia bowling has got a settled look to it. The wickets have
from Shaun Tait and Daniel Christian, who is also the leading wicket
taker of the tournament with seven wickets. Their economy has also been good
with both the bowlers conceding just fewer than eight runs an over, par rates
in the T20 format.
South Australia would want to win the game to finish the league stages as group
topper. Their net run rate is less than that of the Highveld Lions and win for
the Lions against the Royal Challengers and a loss for South Australia in this
game would mean that the Lions would finish as group toppers.
