services that are available here. The Sri Lankan tour of West Indies has taken
a very interesting turn. The 181 run defeat handed out by Sri Lanka to the Wes
Indian team has come as a bit of a surprise owing to the almost impeccable home
record of the West Indians. The West Indian started the last day of the first
test match on a high with the all rounder Dwayne Bravo scoring a heady 83 runs
at a rapid pace. But that was perhaps the only high point for the West Indian
team. The lanky Sri Lankan pace man then took charge of proceedings and started
ripping through the batting line up of the Caribbean side with ease.

The Sri Lankan team has been in great form of late. The recent test match victory
emphasizes that very fact. The team also looks like a balanced unit. The great
depression that Sri Lankan cricket faced after some of its greatest performers
retired now finally seems to be over. The first test match saw some spectacular
performances from all departments. The batting department fired from the first
day itself and helped the Sri Lankan team reach a heady total of 476. Mahela
Jayawardene and Malinda Warnapura top scored with individual scores of 136 and
120 respectively. Opener Vandort and tail ender Chaminda Vaas scored half centuries
thus adding some useful runs to the total of the Sri Lankan team. The bowling
department then took over immediately and ensured that the West Indian batsmen
are not given an opportunity to be comfortable. Chaminda Vaas, Muttiah Murlitharan,
and Mirando took 3 wickets each and together bundled out West Indies for a paltry
score of 280. Man of the match Chaminda Vaas is expected to be at his best in
the second test match as well. Besides Vaas, Mahela Jayawardene and Kumara Sangakkara
are expected to play pivotal roles in test second test match.
The West Indian team suffered a disappointing loss at the hands of the Sri
Lankan team. Despite the 181 run loss, the match saw some fine performances
from various players of the Caribbean side. In the first innings, Jermaine Taylor
impressed with his bowling and took 4 wickets while Ramnaresh Sarwan scored
an impressive 80 of 199 balls. Almost all other batsmen got starts but were
unable to convert those starts into a big score. SJ Benn and Dwayne Bravo have
also shown some form with the bowl and picked 3 wickets a piece in the match.
This performance is however under par as compared to the high standards that
they set in the recent past. These second test match should be a thrilling encounter
owing to the fact that several of the West Indian batsmen are expected to come
good in the match and are expected to score a big one.
