The Stanford Twenty20 championship is being held in the Caribbean with
an eye to promote cricketing culture in the West Indies and with a wide range
of ex- West Indies legends playing their trade after years of retirement, it

The Stanford cricket championship is sponsored by Stanford Financial group
and offers huge financial rewards for the winning side, almost as high as those
offered in any major international cricketing event. The winning side bags a
fat US$1 Million while US$200,000 is given to their Cricket Board for development
.The man of the match bags $50000 and this should serve as a huge incentive
for the players participating in what is expected to be an exciting championship.
There are twenty teams participating in this second edition of the Championship
and the teams are mostly made up of ex West Indies cricket legends and young
upcoming cricketers. Some of the biggest starts playing this tournament includes
some of the most famous cricketers of the glorious West Indies era of the late
eighties including Vivian Richards, Andy Roberts, Courtney Walsh, Joel Garner, Sir Garfield Sobers, Ian Bishop and
Courtney Ambrose. This competition was made with a mind on improving the current
state of West Indies cricket which is pretty abysmal in comparison to their
heydays two decades back and fans throughout the world will be hoping that his
tournament serves its initial purpose.
