The Victoria Bushrangers meet the Wayamba Elevens in what is a must
win game for them to stay in the competition. They should not only beat Wayamba,
they should beat them with a big margin. Victoria are currently in third position
in Group A, behind the Chennai Super Kings, who have a better run rate.
Wayamba are virtually out of the tournament and would play without any pressure.
They will be playing for pride, and all the pressure would be on the Victoria Bushrangers to perform. The bowling was better in the game against the Super
Kings as they applied pressure on and did not give any scoring opportunities
during the power play.
Click for Live Score Card of Victorian Bushrangers Vs Wayamba Elevens The batting has also come good at the right time. The batsmen struggled in
their first game against the Warriors failing to chase a middling target. In
the last two games, they have been given excellent starts by Aaron Finch. In
the game against the Stags, he played till the end and scored an outstanding
93. Against the Super Kings, he played an explosive knock, hitting 41 off just
17 balls. The manner in which he played Doug Bollinger was brilliant,
taking the fast bowler out of the game.
David Hussey too has played well in the tournament. He restricted his natural
instincts to go after the playing, and played a cool and sensible knock, taking
his side closer to the target. However, he showed what he is capable of in the
super over, hitting 22 off five balls.
Wayamba's dependence on Mahela Jayawardene has been too obvious. They
have lost early wickets in both their games, which has put them in the back
foot straight away. Their fast bowlers have been disappointing and it has been
their spin bowlers who have contributed so far, be it containing the opposition
or picking up wickets.
They would want Mahela Jayawardene to perform on Monday. He has had a disappointing
tournament so far. The Victorian bowlers will be tough to dispatch. The side
is made of seamers who look to have adjusted to the conditions better.
It will be an exciting game to watch. The unpredictability of the Sri Lankan
players will be one to watch out. A win for Wayamba would mean that the Chennai
Super Kings will be into the semi finals along with the Warriors. However, a
win for Victoria would mean that the Super Kings have to win their game against
the Warriors.
