India and Australia get ready to lock horns in a familiar
territory on a whole new different cricketing level when India take on the World
Champions in the first one dayer at Brisbane this Sunday. Australia have the
edge going into this what is expected to be a scintillating clash having comprehensively
downed the Indian 20-20 outfit at Melbourne while the Indians will be hoping
to carry on their encouraging display in the test series into the one day format.

Over the past three tours to Australia, India have struggled
in the one dayers and their track record down under is not encouraging at all.
India have won jus a single game from their last eleven games against Australia
in their backyard and will be hoping for a change in fortunes under young skipper
Mahendra Singh Dhoni. India come into this match on the back of what
will probably go down as India's worst ever 20-20 batting performance as Australia
trounced the Indian team with discomforting ease. The Indian batting line combusted
under the catalysis of some tight Australian fielding and bowling and were shot
down for a dismal seventy three which the Aussies managed to overhaul in just
eleven overs. Dhoni later had some harsh words to say about this team's capitulation
and the young aggressive Indian batting line up will be hoping to respond in
the best possible way for this clash.
India will be missing Southpaw Yuvraj Singh, who has been so
effective against Australia in recent times to a knee injury while RP Singh
will be out of contention of this match with a recurrence of a thigh strain
that saw him miss most of the last test match. Sachin Tendulkar will
be back to lend some stability to the Indian battling line up which was ripped
apart by the Australian pace attack in Melbourne and is expected to open with
Gautam Gambhir at the top of the order. Dinesh Karthik will slot in at
number three while Ishant Sharma and Praveen Kumar have been entrusted
with the responsibility to blow out the Australian batting line up.
On the other hand, Australia would be glad to recover from
two shaky test matches earlier this year with a thumping win over India in the
one off 20-20 clash. This series represents the last international cricket tournament
of veteran wicketkeeper Adam Gilcrhist and he would be hoping to give
the backed Gabba full value for their money with another of this trademark cameos
at the top of the innings. Nathan Bracken comes into the one day outfit while
James Hopes is expected to be selected ahead of Brad Haddin primarily on the
account of his bowling abilities as Australia look to take an advantage over
India in the first one dayer of the Commonwealth Bank Tri nations series to
be played on the 3rd of February 2008 at the Gabba.
