The third test match of the ongoing Sri Lanka-India
test series will take place on the 8th of August 2008 and if the results of previous
test matches are anything to go by, all is set for an enthralling finish to one
of the most exciting test matches in recent history. India fought back brilliantly
to level the series 1-1 after suffering their third worst loss in the first test
match and you can catch up with all their progress with our cricket coverage of

The second test match saw a complete role reversal from the first test match with
India grabbing Sri Lanka by the scruff of the neck. The likes of Virender Sehwag
and Harbhajan Singh were the complete stars of the win and they will be
anxious to repeat it when they come up against a much rejunvated outfit this coming
Friday. India have been immensely successful in recent years abroad winning matches
in West Indies, Australia, South Africa and England in recent years and a good
performance here will do their confidence a world of good. One of the biggest
bonuses of their victory last time around was the form of Ishant Sharma who looked
in menacing form in the second innings of Sri Lanka. However, the form of Sachin
Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly remains a big concern but given their track
record of fighting from poor form, expect India to go in as favourites for this
clash against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka will be distraught to
let the advantage slip after a brilliant performance in the opening test match.
Although the bowling did do their job efficiently with Mendis in particular being
supremely effective, the batting did leave them down big time. The likes of Sangakkara
and Jayawardena looked woefully out of touch and they will need to pump up their
level if they are to compete against a fine Indian pace attack. The bowling still
remains their biggest strength with Ajantha Mendis and Muralitharan forming a
fine partnership. With Vaas still going strong, Sri Lanka have all the more reason
to be optimistic when they go into this series deciding clash with India in Colombo
this coming Friday 8th August 2008. Watch all the exciting
