The West Indies cricket team will be hoping to keep
their chances of a shock series triumph over Australia alive in the 2nd
One Dayer of the five match West Indies- Australia test series starting
this coming Friday 27th June 2008 in St. George's Park. West Indies are
already 1-0 down in the series and having ran the Australian's so close in the
3 match test series, hopes will be high when they take the field this time around.

The first One-Dayer saw the Windies lose out by 84 runs on
the back of a fine batting performance by Shawn Marsh. The 24 year old debutant
who had such a fine series in the IPL with the Kings XI Punjab
outfit was impressive throughout and that performance will go a long way in
cementing his place for the upcoming tours. On the other hand, the Windies collapsed
chasing a huge target of 273 and much improvements will be needed if they are
to make a fight of it in the remaining few matches of the tournament.
Australia will go into this clash highly confident of their
abilities to both win in style as well as grind results out. One of their key
performers in recent years, Nathan Bracken was once again impressive
this time around as he skittled the West Indian batting line up for a mere 198
with a brilliant bowling performance taking 4-51. Other impressive performances
apart from the heroics exhibited by Bracken and Marsh include a spell of deadly
fast bowling by Brett Lee up the order. Brett Lee was highly responsible for
creating havoc in the West Indian batting line up the order and the 31 year
old Australian looks to be the premium paceman in World Cricket at the moment.
While things look rosy for the Australians, the same cannot
be said about their Caribbean counterparts. On a fateful day in Trinidad, everything
that Chris Gayle experimented with backfired as the Australians scampered away
to an easy victory. Further more; the Windies will also be missing Dwayne Bravo
for this clash as he endured a knee injury that sees him missing the next two
matches. Chris Gayle will be disappointed in handing over the initiative
back to the Australians after winning the one off 20-20 clash and will know
that a defeat here will see them lose a lot of ground. However, to the credit
of the Windies, they have been resilient all throughout the summer and although
the difference in quality between the two sides has shown in recent times, expect
the Windies to counter back against the Australians this coming Friday in St.
George's Park.
