The South African tour of West Indies will continue with the second T20I
between the Proteas and West Indies and the game will be played on the same ground
at the North South. South Africa will be going into this series after having crashed
out rather meekly from the ICC World T20 and the West Indian captain has already
apologised to his fans for the rather pathetic performances that were doled out
his side as well.
Click for Live Score Card of West Indies Vs South AfricaThis makes this second game of the series rather important for both the sides.
South Africa hasn't had a great run in the T20 format in recent times.
They lost in the World T20 and against England, they shared a T20I series 1-1.
However, the interesting bit from that England series was that Loots Bosman
played rather well in both the games and there is a good chance that he will
be given his opportunity and a license to thrill.
South Africa's bigger problem in this format is undoubtedly their batting.
The problem looks to be stemming from the fact that the side is not getting
the necessary acceleration. This issue will be compounded by the fact that the
side will be facing the West Indies spinners, on tracks that could be slower
than normal, Sulieman Benn and Nikita Miller could prove to be a handful.
However, the good news for South Africa is that they have a couple of spinners
of their own, who could both be played for this game. In Johan Botha
and Roelof van der Merwe, they have two slow bowlers who should be able to do
the job for the side, and hence make it more difficult for the hard hitters
from the West Indies.
The distinguishing factor between the two teams could well be their fielding,
which is definitely in the favour of the South Africans. Herschelle Gibbs may
be out of the team, but in JP Duminy and AB de Villiers, they have two players
who can easily do the job for the side and the West Indians will have to be
careful while running to the two of them.
It is difficult to count the favourites, but there cannot be too much doubt
that Graeme Smith looks a little rattled, and more so by his own former
cricketers. This is the best chance for the West Indians to go for the kill
and win the series 2-0.
