West Indies will play Zimbabwe in the only T20I on Sunday at Queen's Park
Oval in Port of Spain in Trinidad. This is a part of the tour of West Indies,
in which Zimbabwe will feature in five ODIs apart from this T20I game.
The West Indian side will be reeling from their current series result against
the Aussies. They lost all their games in all the three formats, and that meant
that the already existing issues within the West Indian side were highlighted
even further. Now, with this series against a team ranked so low that even some
of the Associate and Affiliate teams would beat them, it is imperative that
the hosts win all the six games of the series.

best chance in. After all, they had even beaten Australia in the very first
game they had featured in the 2007 edition of the ICC World T20, which had set
the cat amongst the pigeons. What needs to be seen, however, is how well they
adapt to the conditions in West Indies, which, to say the least, are
quite different from those back home. Luckily for the Zimbabweans, they will
be coming off a T20 season, which means that they would have had sufficient
practice of this format.
It is a different matter altogether whether the competition in that tournament
was half the standard of the international level.
For the West Indies, it will be a chance to prepare themselves for the ICC
World T20 which they will host in April. This means that one could see a couple
of changes to the side which performed so poorly in Australia. However, the
guys who will definitely make it to the T20I side and who could need an innings
or two to get the form going again, would be the likes of Kieron Pollard
and Kemar Roach.
Both had begun well on the tour, but needed to give out a lot more for their
side to be able to take any advantage of. This meant that Kemar Roach
will need to come out at this fiery sizzling best, whereas Pollard needs a big
innings under his belt quickly.
The one other batsman to look out for in the series is Chris Gayle.
Gayle, the batsman, had a miserable time in the shorter format of the game in
Australia and that would mean that he will need to lift himself up quickly and
get going. The T20I game could get really exciting if he does not provide that
start!
