Sri Lanka's state television Rupavahini will sponsor the country's
cricket tournaments for the next five years.
This would, however, not include the India-Sri Lanka Test series to be played
in June next year, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) media manager Samantha Algama
said.
He said a decision on the sponsors for the series against India will
be decided later.
"Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) has come forward to sponsor
the main tournaments of the SLC with Rs 50 million (USD 440,000) for five years,"
he said.
Algama said the in addition to the financial support, SLRC
will telecast the tournament live.
"For the first time there will be live telecasts of local
matches," Algama said, adding, "this would include live telecast of
quarter finals, semi-finals and finals of the country's Premier League matches,
Twenty20 games, four day tournaments and highlight packages.
