The ICC anti-corruption officer for the ongoing Test series between Pakistan
and Australia is having trouble in keeping an eye on the team dressing
rooms here after Wi-Fi wireless connections were installed in the National Stadium.
The ICC anti-corruption regulations don't permit players or officials to use laptops
in the dressing room during a match but due to the Wi-Fi signals in the stadium
now, anyone can get connected to internet in most parts of the stadium including
the dressing rooms.
Sources said the South African media manager Owen Smith had
also gone to Nur to ask him if he could use internet in his dressing room.
"But Nur told him this was not allowed and if he wanted
to send or receive any mail he should do so in the media communication area,"
one source said.
The source said Nur had also been visiting the dressing rooms
to make sure that the computer analysts, who use laptops to record the match
proceedings, were not using Wi-Fi to surf the net or send or receive mails.
In the past normal telephone line internet lines were provided to the media
in the stadium but this is the first time the event managers have installed
a Wi-Fi booster to provide wireless connections.
