Sachin
Tendulkar celebrates his 37th birthday on the 24th of April, and the tributes
have flowed in from various quarters.
Harbhajan Singh, who is Tendulkar's very good friend, said that the age is
just a number for Sachin Tendulkar and that he can continue playing in
the manner that he is for ages. On the other hand, MS Dhoni, the Indian captain
and Tendulkar's opponent in the final of the third edition of the IPL, said,
that he often joked around that there is a good chance that Dhoni will retire
from the game much earlier than Tendulkar!
Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 37th birthday with wife Anjali Tendulkar,
Mumbai Indians IPL franchise owners Mukesh and Nita Ambani and his teammates
at a private function last night. It is also said that the entire Mumbai Indians
team was present at the private cake-cutting and dinner event at the small party.
Mr Mukesh and Mrs Nita Ambani and his wife were also present.
It is not yet sure whether Tendulkar will play in the final of the IPL or no.
Tendulkar had sustained a finger injury in the semi-final win over the Royal
Challengers Bangalore, and could not field for most part of the game.
Such has been Tendulkar's influence on the IPL that he went on to win two awards
at the IPL awards function in Mumbai. He was given the Best Batsman award and
the Best Captain award by the jury. However, due to his own birthday celebrations,
he could not attend the function.
Kolkata team owner, Shah Rukh Khan tweeted on his Twitter account, "Happy
Birthday Sachin! Hope your fingers heal soon"
MS Dhoni had an interesting point to make; he said, "While Federer's one
big wish is to see his twin daughters watch him play at a Grand Slam tournament,
Sachin's son Arjun has already had the privilege of watching his father from
the stands. That says a lot about his skill and endurance."
Tendulkar has already won the Orange Cap for this year's edition of the IPL
and that is after calling it quits at the international level in this format.
He was earlier being coaxed into playing for the country in the ICC World T20,
but he has not agreed to come out of his retirement and play.
Tendulkar has played in only one T20I that he had featured in against South
Africa. That was India's first ever T20I as well, and they had gone on to win
the game.
