Adam
Gilchrist is not a happy man despite his team Kings XI Punjab beating
the Deccan Chargers in the game on Saturday. Speaking to the media, Adam Gilchrist said that despite being close to the Deccan Chargers after leading
the side for three years, someone was talking and make negative comments against
him behind his back and he was sorely unhappy with that. According to Gilchrist,
there were some who were doing this ever since he gave up on the franchise in
the third year of the tournament.
Gilchrist was instrumental in defeating the Deccan Chargers in the 17th
game of this edition's Indian Premier League. He made 61 and combined
with the man of the match Paul Valthaty (75) to help the Punjab side
win the game with consummate ease.
According to the former Australian wicket-keeper, he was a part of the Deccan
Chargers side for three years, which had been wonderful and sweet. However,
he added that he was disappointed at being targeted by that someone from within
the franchise.
He also added that the negative things spoken about him were brought to his
attention which he would not reveal. However, what he would definitely not miss
to cherish was the way the franchise had been nice to him during the three years
he was with them. He also added that there was no point in naming the person
involved in making those comments.
Gilchrist said that he was very happy with the experience that he had with
the Chargers. However, to be able to beat the Chargers was particularly sweet
after the person had spoken against him on his back. He added that the two sides
will meet again in the tournament and he would look forward to meeting again.
Former Gilchrist team-mate and current Deccan Chargers coach, Darren Lehmann
said that he was not aware of what was happening with respect to the issue.
Lehmann said that he did not wish to add too much to what was already been
said about the issue. He said that at 41, Gilchrist was batting really well
and that he was one of the best players of the world. He also added that he
will not like to comment too much on the issue. He said that Gilchrist had already
said whatever there was to be said and that there was nothing to add to it.
