Australian openers, Mathew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist have given flying start
to their team against cricket minnow Scotland in a Group A match here at
Warner Park.
Australia were 82 runs without loss in the 15th overs. Gilchrist
and Hayden are playing on 40 and 38 respectively at this moment.
Earlier, Scottish captain Craig Wright won the toss
and sent Australia in to bat in the opening Group A match of the World Cup.
Australia included Shaun Tait, Glenn McGrath
and Nathan Bracken in its three-man pace attack.
Matthew Hayden returns after breaking his toe while compiling
an Australian One-Day record 181 not out last month. He will open with Adam
Gilchrist, demoting Shane Watson down the order to No. 7.
Missing out on selection were bowlers Stuart Clark and Mitchell
Johnson, backup wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.
Andrew Symonds wasn't considered for selection as he is still recovering from
biceps surgery.
Paul Hoffman and John Blain will open the bowling for Scotland.
