Australian Institute of Sports today enhanced their chances
of making the final of the Buchi Babu Memorial Cricket Tournament by taking
a first innings lead of 197 runs against Combined District on the second day
of their three-day semi-final match here.
In the other truncated semifinal, Baroda were 109 for four in 52 in reply to
Mumbai's first innings total of 340 for nine. In all, 190 minutes of play was
lost due to rain and Baroda batsmen Pinal Shah and Shatrunjay Gaekwad made 28
each while Avishkar Salvi claimed 3/16.
In the first semifinal, Australian medium pacer Ryan Harris
and leg spinner Steve Smith claimed three wickets each conceding 15 and
37 runs respectively. For the hosts, Subramaniya Siva (48) and E Suresh (not
out 77) were the main scorers.
In reply, the Aussies were 109 for 3 in just 13 overs with
Brandon Drew (51) and Steve Smith (16) at the crease. Wicket Keeper batsman,
Matt Wade contributed 31 (26b, 2x4).
