Bringing shock for Stephen Fleming's New Zealand squad, minnows
Bangladesh registered victory, shattering the joy of the kiwi's last month's
series win over Australia.
Fleming struggled to explain an upset two-wicket loss to Bangladesh
in a World Cup warm-up match yesterday, while Australia snapped its stretch
of five losses with a 106-run defeat of Zimbabwe.
"It was a day when nothing went right," Fleming said.
"We batted poorly and did not assess conditions that well.
"We just couldn't shake them, but credit to them - it was a great performance
from them. And it gives us some problems going forward."
In other official warm-ups for the March 13-April 28 World
Cup, Pakistan registered a 77-run win over Canada and India trounced
the Netherlands by 182 runs.
Bangladesh's victory at the 3Ws Oval was the most shocking
result in the first bracket of tune-up matches.
Top-ranked South Africa rallied from 91-8 to hold off Ireland
by 37 runs on Monday, when England thrashed Bermuda by 241 runs, host
West Indies held off Kenya and Sri Lanka beat Scotland.
Today is a rest day, with the bottom eight-ranked teams featuring in second
warm up matches tomorrow and the top eight playing Friday.
Bangladesh plays Scotland tomorrow, its final hitout before
its opening Group B match against 2003 finalist India at Trinidad on March 17.
