 After the first match victory, New Zealand go into the second test match
starting from the 12th of January full of confidence as they now have an unbeatable
lead in the 2 match series. The man of the match of the first test, Jacob
Oram, is expected to be the key player in the second test as well. The second
test match, which is to be held in Basin Reserve in Wellington, is expected
to witness largely unchanged squads of both the teams. Despite the loss, the
Bangladesh team is high on confidence and will try to avenge the defeat. In
order to win, Bangladesh will have to improve in the batting department. Debutants
Tamim Iqbal and Junaid Siddique will hope to carry their form from their first
test match, where they both got half centuries, into the second test match.
They will be the key players along with Mashrafe Mortaza, the speedster
who returned with excellent figures of 4-74 in the first test.
New Zealand, on the other hand, will continue to rely on Jacob Oram, Mills
and Martin to break through the Bangladesh batting line-up. Jacob Oram is expected
to fire with both his bat and bowling to add to his match winning contributions
of 4-44 and his 117 run innings in the first test. Jacob Oram, the tall New
Zealand all rounder can rip through any batsman's defense and is also a handy
batsman. While the Bangladeshi's are often referred to as the minnows, they
have often proved their mettle and have given various teams like Australia,
India and Pakistan a run for their money. The New Zealand team is in-form and
riding high on confidence, but should not under-estimate the Bangladesh team.
If Bangladesh manages to win the second test match (12 Jan-16th Jan), the 2
match series will be a tie with the series score being 1-1.
