The issues of telecast rights and contract system for cricketers
are likely to feature in the BCCI 's working committee meet today.
The meeting assumes importance in the wake of the ordinance
which has made it mandatory for television rights owner to share the live feed
with public broadcaster Prasar Bharati.
The BCCI, which has sold the telecast rights to nimbus for
a whopping USD 612 million, is under pressure to safeguard the interests of
its commercial partners.
The first match of the recent one-dayer between India and
the West Indies could not be watched by millions of viewers because
of a dispute between Prasar Bharati and nimbus, prompting the government to
come out with an ordinance.
The board is keen to introduce the new contract system before
the World Cup but has still not been able to work out certain issues.
