After creating ripples at the junior level, gifted Saurashtra batsman Cheteshwar
Pujara is banking on his experience in Australia's Centre of Excellence (CoE)
to justify his selection among the Twenty20 World Cup probables.
Pujara, billed as a future Team India stuff, has a mature head
on his tender shoulders and the youngster said instead of unduly bothering about
selection, he concentrated on improving his game.
"I am happy to be selected among the Twenty20 World Cup
probables and India A. But, I don't think much about the selection. My
job is to perform well and I will continue to that. My aim goes beyond Twenty20,"
he said in an interview.
Pujara, son of former Saurashtra Ranji player Arvind,
recently completed a 35-day stint at the Centre of Excellence in Brisbane and
thinks it would stand him in good stead if he is picked for the final Twenty20
squad.
"In Australia, I got some experience of playing shots
on bouncy wickets. And it should be helpful in South Africa too. Besides,
fielding and running between wickets are important aspects of this fast game.
So right now I am concentrating on this," he said.
Possessing a classical technique, Pujara said he did not find
it difficult to adjust to the slam-bang approach adopted in the shortest version
of cricket.
