Australian cricket team vice-captain, Michael Clarke has been broken up
with his two year old fiancé, Lara Bingle. Clarke had earlier flown
away from the middle of the tour of New Zealand to join his fiancé who
had been involved in a nude picture scandal.
Clarke's problems with his fiancé began when it was revealed that she
had been shot secretly by her former boy-friend Fiavalo, an Australian footballer.
The picture was a nude photograph and was sold to an Australian magazine by
the footballer. A distraught Bingle had then approached the same magazine for
a record signing in which she was to reveal her side of the story for a huge
sum of money.
This is what had led to much speculation that the engagement was on the rocks.
Clarke was in New Zealand participating in the ODI series against the
home team when this news had stuck. This was followed by Clarke leaving the
team mid-way through the tour to go back to Australia, a move that was
supported by Cricket Australia, but widely criticised by fans and former players.
Of course, there were a few who had said that this move will not cause any
issues with Clarke's aspirations to be the next captain of the side, but the
problem was there for all to see.
After flying back, Clarke had been locked up with Bingle in their mansion for
the rest of the week with Bingle making sporadic appearances in the balcony.
On one of the occasions, she even showed the media guys waiting outside their
mansion, the middle finger.
After that Clarke announced through his media manager that the two had broken
up and there were other rumours of how Bingle had thrown off her engagement
ring into the toilet and had needed about a couple of hours before it could
be retrieved by the plumbers.
Clarke was away from the media for most of the times, and had re-arrived back
to New Zealand for the Test matches. However, after avoiding the media for much
of the last few days, he finally spoke out today and thanked his family, friends
and Shane Warne for the support. He also added that had it not been for
the support he would have found it difficult to get back and play.
He also said that he would look at concentrating on the game and will try not
to get distracted by the whole incident.
