The International Cricket Council has taken a policy decision to let the
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) independently handle the threat posed
by rebel Indian Cricket League.
According to sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board who are privy to the
last ICC executive board meeting held in London in June, the Indian delegation
had given a complete briefing to the other members on the ICL.
"The ICL being launched by Zee Telefilms was discussed
by the executive board members and they decided to not interfere in a matter
which they felt was an internal matter of the Indian board.
"Basically the board members reposed confidence in the
Indian board and its ability to handle the issue and any threat posed by the
ICL to the ICC future tours programme," one source said.
The BCCI has not only refused to let out stadia for the ICL's
inaugural Twenty20 competition later this year, but also threatened to ban players
from representing the country in official tournaments.
A similar strong stand has been taken by the Pakistan board
as well.
