It was an innings to remember from Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni as he
blasted the Sunrisers Hyderabad to a 19-ball 63 in the Champions League t20 2013
Dhoni recorded the quickest half-century in Champions League T20 cricket and
ended his innings with the highest strike-rate in the same tournament as compared
to players who had made at least 25 runs.
He was helped by a Suresh Raina sizzler as well, that won him the man of the
match. Raina's knock of 84 came 57 balls and laid the perfect foundation for
Dhoni and Chennai to take control of.
And it was the man of the match from the previous game, Thisara Perera who
had to bear the brunt of the assault. 34 came off his third over which meant
he ended his spell for the day with figures of 0/60 in his third over - third-worst
in terms of runs conceded in CLT20 cricket.
That over from Perera which cost him 34, saw Mahendra Singh Dhoni smash five
sixes, with the bowler sending down a couple of wides to go with it as well.
Chennai scored 202/4 in their 20 overs and while the Sunrisers were off to
a good start through Shikhar Dhawan and Parthiv Patel, they just could not manage
to overhaul a stiff total like that.
Darren Sammy hurt his toe but still carved out a 25-ball half-century before
getting out in the 19th over of the innings.
Chennai now have eight points from two games while Hyderabad are on four points
