Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly has turned over a new leaf in the
last one month or so. He staged a successful comeback in Tests during the recently
concluded tour to South Africa and had a great run with the bat during
the ODI series against the West Indies which India wrapped up 3-1 today.
He must have got a shot in the arm when he got a chance to
lead India for one over though in the absence of captain Rahul Dravid
and his deputy Sachin Tendulkar, who were both off the field due to injuries,
in the fourth and final one-day match against the West Indies here on Wednesday.
The chance came to Dada after a gap of nearly 16 months after he was dropped
unceremoniously and stripped of his captaincy after the tour of Zimbabwe in
2005.
It was during the 12th over of the match that Dravid had to
leave the field after he pulled his muscle. And in the absence of Tendulkar,
it was Ganguly who lead the team as he was the senior most experienced member
in the field.
