New Pakistan coach Geoff Lawson said his enthusiasm has not been
dampened by the fact that some senior players have joined the Indian Cricket
League.
Lawson said he felt happy for players like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Yousuf,
Abdul Razzaq and Imran Farhat who aligned with the ICL.
"I am happy with the spirit I see in these players. My spirits are also
not dampened because of the loss of some of the senior players," the Aussie
told mediapersons after taking charge in Lahore today.
Lawson said he was excited by the challenge of coaching Pakistan
which had a lot of talent and skill and had always remained an unpredictable
side.
"It is a challenge coaching such talented players. My top priority is
to turn their unpredictability into an advantage and to use their talent and
skills to make into a more consistent outfit," he said.
Lawson said he was confident that given the potential in Pakistan
cricket they can turn into the best team in the world.
He has been brought in on a two-year contract with the Pakistan
board, who have also appointed a former Australian rugby trainer to raise the
fitness levels of the players.
Lawson is Pakistan's third foreign coach since 1999 after South
African Richard Pybus and Bob Woolmer.
