Hosts South Africa announced a provisional 30-member squad for the inaugural
ICC Twenty20 World Cup in September.
Graeme Smith has been named as captain while Jacques Kallis was
chosen as vice-captain of the side.
The list which include veterans Shaun Pollock and Mark Boucher
will be pruned to 15-member.
"The final 15-man Proteas squad must be submitted to the
ICC by August 11," Tournament Director Steve Elworthy said yesterday.
"The results and individual performances of the various players were taken
into account by the selectors and they have put together a competitive and exciting
squad that will add to the hype already created around the tournament.
"All 30 provisional squad members have contributed to their teams' results
on the international and domestic fronts.
The championship starts on September 11 and the final will
be held on September 24 at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
