Sunday will see a David v Goliath encounter when New Zealand go up against
Italy in the World Cup. This Group F match which will take place at the Mbombela
Stadium in Nelspruit might seem like a foregone conclusion, but we have already
seen plenty of upsets in the 2010 World Cup. Italy might be the current World
Champions and New Zealand might be a very unlikely World cup team but anything
can happen in ninety minutes.
New Zealand played Slovakia in their first Group F game and they surprised many
people by being able to come away from this game with a draw. Slovakia looked
like they had the win, but those cheeky New Zealanders managed to slip one past
them in injury time. A draw against Italy would be a fantastic result,
but maybe New Zealand could pull an even bigger surprise - you never know. It
is nice seeing an underdog perform well so expect there to be many more New Zealand
supporters.
Italy are the current World Champions. They played Paraguay in their opening match
and surprised many people by only being able to manage a draw. In fact for a long
period of the game they were down one goal and it wasn't until the sixty third
minute that Daniele De Rossi was able to get Italy level. This draw will not have
brought Italy any pleasure and they are sure to take no chances in this next game
against New Zealand. There are no guaranteed wins in the World Cup and
Italy won't be taking anything for granted.
Group F is turning out to be an exciting group with Italy and Paraguay looking
favourites to proceed to the next round. This next Group F match will be between
Italy and New Zealand and it is sure to be a great one to watch. Make sure that
