Former Indian captain Kapil Dev today kept up his attack against Sachin Tendulkar
for his failure to win matches for India and said the Mumbai batsman
has to rediscover his "aggressive style" to make an impact again.
Kapil said Tendulkar was no doubt a great player, but he has not won matches for
India which has disheartened cricket lovers.
"He has a lot of talent but we start doubting it because
he has not won matches for us. We know his ability and his talent and there
will always be a question mark because of his failures in crunch situations,"
Kapil told 'Headlines Today'.
"I think he has just to change his way of playing. He
is quite fit. He played some good knocks against Bangladesh, but he should start
taking the pressure and win matches. If he is so good he should start winning
matches for India," he said.
"If he is the best player we have, he should lead from
the front and show it." Kapil said that he had nothing personal against
Tendulkar, but had only given an honest opinion when asked by the mediamen.
"I am not against Tendulkar. I am not saying negative
things. When you ask me questions, I will give honest answers. I think his approach
should be much stronger," he said.
"I want to see him the way he used to play when he started his career.
Aggressive attitude is important. Let him get 500 runs less, but his attitude
and style should be the way when he started his career," he added.
