Former BCCI President I S Bindra today questioned Kapil Dev's real motive
in joining the Indian Cricket League, saying he went there to make quick bucks
but was trying to rationalise his decision by camouflaging it in name of the game's
development.
"If Kapil's mission was to develop Cricket at grassroots level then Chairmanship
of the NCA (National Cricket Academy) was a perfect platform," Bindra said.
"Poaching players from an existing system and claiming to be a missionary
is duplicity, to put it mildly. One does not grudge anyone making millions but
there is no need to rationalise by camouflaging the real motive," he wrote
on the website of the Punjab Cricket Association.
Bindra, currently a BCCI office-bearer, also lashed out at
the former all rounder for spreading misinformation that the no one from the
Board communicated with him before sacking him as NCA Chairman.
"Kapil has been saying ad nauseam that no-one from the
Board has met him to tell him why he has been relieved of his responsibilities
as NCA chairman.
"Let him touch his heart and admit what had been discussed when he met
the Board President on July 16 and then me, a couple of days before the ICL
launch.
"Both Sharad Pawar and I made it clear to him that his position
as chairman of the National Cricket Academy would be untenable once he
had made up his mind to take up the ICL directorship," he said.
"He had even been told about the Working Committee resolution
to the effect," Bindra said.
