India's vice-captain and wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni today returned
to his hometown Ranchi to take a break before the team embarks on the tour
of Australia.
According to the Indian team management, Dhoni, who suffered an injury on the
webbing of his left hand during the Kolkata Test, needed to take rest before the
tour Down Under and hence he was asked to leave for home.
"We decided that it would be better if Dhoni gets good
rest before the tour to Australia and hence he has been sent home. I am sure
this will help him get rejuvenated and be much fitter for the next assignment,"
said a member of the Indian team management.
In Dhoni's absence, Dinesh Kaarthick is donning the
role of the wicketkeeper in the ongoing third and final Test against Pakistan
here.
