This Tuesday will see New Zealand and Slovakia meet at the Royal Bafokeng
Stadium in Rustenburg for a Group F encounter in the 2010 World Cup. These two
teams are considered underdogs in the group but this does not mean that they won't
pull of a shocker and do well. Group F also contains Italy and Paraguay so it

This is the first time Slovakia have played in the world cup as a team; although
this side was once part of the Czechoslovakia squad. Slovakia didn't display
too many spectacular performances on their way to South Africa, but they
were able to do all that was needed. Now they will be hoping to make their first
appearance in the World Cup something to remember. They will be hoping that New
Zealand prove to be an easy introduction to the group.
New Zealand have not had such a great World Cup history. The last time
they qualified was twenty six years ago and on that occasion they failed to make
it past the group stage. Mind you, they certainly didn't have an easy group considering
the fact that it also contained Brazil, Scotland, and the Soviet Union. New Zealand
will be hoping to cause a few upsets over the next few weeks and there first ambition
will be the more modest one of beating Slovakia.
Much of the attention on Group F will be focused on Italy and Paraguay but this
does not mean that neither of these other two teams has a chance. Lack of expectations
