Oram feels he was not a part of the IPL

Jacob OramNew Zealand all rounder, Jacob Oram seems to have created a stir when he said that he felt very disconnected from the IPL. He was talking to the media after returning back from the IPL and spoke about the various issues involved with playing in the IPL - likes of "after-match parties, Bollywood stars and fashion parades" something that seemed to have affected his play in the tournament.

He said that he was there in the IPL for a month and a half and because he was not able to play in the tournament for too many games, it felt a bit weird. He added that he kept training hard but there were moments off the field, when he had had to socialise in the parties, that he felt a bit of a disconnect. Oram had joined the Rajasthan Royals as a replacement cricketer for the injured Paul Collingwood.

Oram also added that he hadn't watched much of the cricket on the telly because he was not interested in seeing what the other teams were doing and could feel that he wasn't a part of the whole affairs in the after-game parties.

Oram did speak about his experiences in the parties, saying that there were Bollywood stars at the parties, apart from fashion shows and the alcohol was served for free. He also added that it made him think whether he was at the IPL for the parties or for the cricket. He added that he would have loved to play more games in the tournament, which should have helped.

Oram also spoke about how well he got along with Shane Warne's wife Liz Hurley. He said that he knew that Hurley had an organic farm and that is exactly what his own wife owns as well which made it easier for him to connect with the captain's wife.

The Kiwi all rounder added that there was a lot of security around the Warnes and that meant that there was a huge entourage that included the likes of the two families and their nannies and the security as well.

Oram added that sharing the dressing room with the likes of Rahul Dravid and Shane Warne was a fascinating experience. He said that he was richer by the experience and that would have allowed him to take home a lot from the tournament.

Rajasthan finished sixth in the tournament after losing four games in a row towards the end.
