India pacer Praveen Kumar was involved in a brawl with a local doctor,
whom he allegedly man-handled following a dispute at market place here.
In the process, Praveen also damaged some goods at a shop after which the matter
was reported to police, who called the cricketer and he apologised for his actions
yesterday.
According to Sadar Bazar police, Shantanu, a physician with Civil Lines Subharti
Hospital, accused Praveen of beating him up under the influence of alcohol after
his car splashed on the cricketer water spilled at the roadside.
Shantanu said Praveen, who was accompanied by his friends, felt that it was
a deliberate attempt to splash water on him and picked up fight.
"I had gone to purchase glasses to a shop at P L Sharma Road yesterday,
when some water splashed on Praveen and his friends, who were standing by the
roadside," Shantanu said.
"When I was purchasing glasses, Praveen and his friends reached there
and started man-handling me with allegation that I intentionally did it.
"They were under the influence of alcohol and they also broke some glasses
in the shop to irk the shopkeeper and they reported the matter to police, who
called Praveen. Praveen then apologised for his actions.
"I am not taking legal action because nation's pride is associated with
Praveen as he represent the country in cricket," he added.
Praveen was there in connection with obtaining an Arm's license.
