With only three days to go for the start of the second Test against India,
Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar is down with a viral infection
and has been taken to a local hospital for a check up.
Pakistan team media manager Ehsan Malik said that Akhtar has throat infection
and fever.
"He has been taken to a local hospital for check-up," he said.
Malik said Pakistan middle order bat Misbah-ul Haq, who had
a viral infection during the opening Test in Delhi, was fast improving.
About skipper Shoaib Malik, who had an ankle sprain,
the media manger said, "We are hopeful he will be cured before the start
of the Test match at the Eden Gardens." Malik, who arrived here this afternoon
along with other members of the squad, was seen limping as he alighted from
the team bus and entered the hotel.
