The Haryana Government has agreed to give the Tau Devi Lal stadium in Sector 3
of Panchkula for holding the Indian Cricket League (ICL) matches.
The development was confirmed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on
the sidelines of the State Assembly session here.
The Chief Minister said the stadium would be given to ICL for
a period of 45 days. However, the formalities in this regard were yet to be
completed, he said.
Asked to comment on the request of ICL for a ground in Gurgaon,
he said there was also another request from a BCCI-related association and the
matter had not been decided yet.
He, however, indicated that the government would not hesitate from extending
the facilities to those who would help promote sports in the state.
Since day-night matches are planned to be hosted by the ICL,
they are believed to have offered the Haryana Government their willingness to
bear the cost of installing the flood lights.
The ICL will also be required to maintain the ground for as
long as the matches are on while Haryana Urban Development Authority will maintain
the field during the off seasons, according to the terms and conditions being
worked out.
