The long-awaited Players' Contract will be implemented after the Indian team's
return from the March 13-April 28 World Cup in the West Indies.
This was the agreement reached between the Cricket Board
with Indian captain Rahul Dravid after a meeting was held here today,
the BCCI said in a media release.
"After a meeting between the Board's officials and Rahul
Dravid this morning, it is mutually agreed that the Players' Contract would
be implemented after the return of the team from the ICC Cricket World Cup
2007.
"At the meeting today, the draft agreement was discussed
in detail and the views of the Board and the players were exchanged," said
BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah in the release.
Present at the meeting along with Shah were BCCI Vice-President
Lalit Modi, former Board chief I S Bindra and BCCI's Chief Administrative
Officer Ratnakar Shetty.
The contracts would have a retrospective effect from October 1, 2006 as the
earlier contract period ended on September 30, 2006.
