Indian cricket star Mohammad Kaif, who is in Kanpur for a Ranji trophy match, has been provided round-the-clock security by the police in
view of recent incidents of fans venting their ire on him and his family for his
poor performance.
Kaif has been put up in a three-star hotel separately for security purposes
with Kanpur Police not willing to take any chances in view of angry protests
before his house in Allahabad recently.
The UP skipper has been provided with a police officer armed
with automatic weapon for round-the-clock security on the directive of Senior
Superintendent of Police Alok Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Sabharaj Singh said.
A team of security personnel would accompany Kaif when he steps
out from his hotel, in a police vehicle.
He added that the armed police officer would be positioned
outside the boundary while Kaif would be playing and the security team would
wait outside the stadium.
Kaif is here to take part in Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy
tie against Karnataka.
