South Africa has announced an unchanged 15-man squad for ICC
Cricket World Cup, which beat Pakistan 3-1 in the recent one-day series.
Hard-hitting batsman Loots Bosman, who showed promise and character during
the one-day series against India, has been named in the squad.
Announcing the squad, Cricket CEO Gerald Majola, said
they had full faith in all the 15 players and were confident that the team would
do well in the World Cup.
"Judging from how they played against India and Pakistan,
we believe this team will do us proud in the West Indies", he said yesterday.
Majola said all the players had been involved in high level domestic and international
competition and had been part of the high performance programme since last season.
"We are sending a strong, well-balanced and well-prepared
squad to meet the challenges of Caribbean conditions against the best in the
world. No stone was left unturned in ensuring that the players have had the
very best preparation on offer," he said.
Majola said that fast bowler Makhaya Ntini will not
travel with the team to the Caribbean on February 28.
"Makhaya will join the team in Trinidad after the birth
of his second child in time for the second warm up match against Pakistan on
9 March 2007", he said.
Captain Graeme Smith said that every member of the World
Cup squad knows their specific responsibilities.
