Revealing that Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly were rested and not dropped
from the team for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh, the chairman of BCCI's national
selection committee, Dilip Vengsarkar, has said that every cricketer playing
for the nation has to be rested at one point on the other.
Former Indian captain said that Sachin and Ganguly have been
given a break.
India are playing around 45 matches in all this season and we need to ensure
that players are not too taxed, he added. Everyone would be rested at some point
or the other, he told.
Colonel, Dilip's nickname during his playing days, said he
had spoken to Tendulkar and Ganguly and they were okay with the move.
He also said that offie Harbhajan Singh needed a break and
he would stage a comeback soon. Vengsarkar further said that now Team India's
average age is about 23 or 24 years. He said that Dinesh Karthick has
been included in the team as he is capable of staying at the wicket and also
because he played some good innings in South Africa.
