Brilliant knocks by the West Indies captain Brian Lara
and Marlon Samuels helped their side post a three-wicket victory over
India in the third Pepsi Cup ODI at Chepauk Stadium last night, sources said.
According to the sources, Samuels' authoritative 95-ball 98
and his 127-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Lara (83) helped the
West Indies reach 270 for seven in 43.4 overs in reply to India's score
of 268 from 48 overs.
Bravo returned with career-best figures of four for 34 to stop
India's run-feast triggered by brisk half-centuries from opener Robin Uthappa
(70), star batsman Sachin Tendulkar (60) and skipper Rahul Dravid (57).
Uthappa smashed 70 off only 41 balls as India were bowled out for 268 in 48
overs after being put into bat.
Samuels was chosen for Man of the Match award for his swashbuckling knock of
98.
The final match is in Baroda on Wednesday.
India leads the four-match series 2-1.
