Former Australian leg-spinner Terry Jenner, better known as Shane Warne's
mentor, will train Indian spinners at the MAC Spin Foundation here from September
15 to 20.
"Trainees at the state-of-the-art academy will surely benefit from Jenner's
training -- particularly three of our best trainees, Rahil Shah (Gujarat), Shivnesh
Sharma (Uttar Pradesh) and Gaurav Jathar (Mumbai)," former Indian spinner
Raghuram Bhat told reporters at the Foundation's academy.
"Spinners have to show more patience for more success and these under-17
boys are rare breeds. The short coaching stint by Jenner will surely benefit
them," he said.
Nadeem and Sapnil of Baroda, who are presently on India (under-19)
tour, would not be here for Jenner's training.
"These boys have been with me for over two years both
at the National Cricket Academy and MAC foundation. They have shown tremendous
improvement and are ready for national duty," Bhat said.
Jenner, who had played nine Tests for Australia between
1970 and 75, had trained Anil Kumble too when India toured Australia.
Former BCCI President A C Muthiah also felt that a stint under
Jenner would do a world of good to the budding spinners.
"There is no doubt that we have some highly talented young
bowlers and they will benefit after being taught by Terry, the world's best
leg spin coach," he said.
The MAC Spin foundation, founded in 1995, is a non-profit organisation
dedicated to develop and improve the art of spin bowling by Indian talents.
