Kerala speedster Shanthakumaran Sreesanth today said it was a dream come
true for him to book a berth in the next month's icc cricket world cup west indies
2007 squad and a great opportunity to perform well.
"It is a dream come true for me. It is God's grace. It
is really a great opportunity for me to do well," Sreesanth told reporters.
Sreesanth is one of the five fast bowlers in the 15-member
squad announced today for the quadrennial event beginning in the West Indies
from March 13.
He reached Goa this morning along with India team, which lost
to Sri Lanka in Rajkot by five runs yesterday. The next one-dayer
will be played on Wednesday and the fourth and final ODI will be played
at Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
"I am focussing on the next two games against the Sri
Lankans," said, Sreesanth, the second Kerala player after Tinu Yohannan
to don the Indian colours.
On India's chances in the icc cricket world cup west indies
2007, he said the team had picked up its performance in recent matches.
"We are confident of putting up a good performance in
the icc cricket world cup west indies 2007. At the moment, India is doing very
well. As a unit, we are performing well and we will put in our best."
Sreesanth's father Shanthakumaran said, "I was tense after
the Rajkot match yesterday but I was confident that my son would be in the team."
"We had been to the temple in the morning and our neighbours too had gone
to the temple to pray for Sreesanth's selection," he added.
