Coach for Team India is expected to be appointed in a month's time, BCCI
President Sharad Pawar said today.
Pawar also said there is no proposal before the BCCI to pick former coach Greg
Chappell for an advisory role at the National Cricket Academy.
Asked about the progress made on appointing the new coach,
he said the cricket board has sent communication to boards such as Australia,
New Zealand, the West Indies and England with its requirements for the
position.
Once BCCI gets the names, it would consult the three-member
selection panel appointed for the purpose and finalise the coach, he added.
"It will take one month's time to get all the details,
study and finalise," Pawar said.
Asked about reports that Chappell might be brought back in
an advisory role at NCA, he said there is no such proposal. "That's not
the thing as on today. There is no such proposal. Suggestion might have been
made by somebody but there's no specific proposal." He said the present
bowling and fielding coach of India team, Venkatesh Prasad and Robin Singh,
would continue in their positions for the year and the Board will
decide thereafter whether to continue their services.
"They (Prasad and Robin) have done extremely good job,
All the players are extremely happy," he said.
