The Sri Lankan cricket team arrived here on Friday for a four-match ODI
series against India, According to the channel, the 15-member Sri Lankan
team has come without off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan and left-arm pacer
Chaminda Vaas, who have been rested as the World Cup is round the
corner.
In place of its star bowlers, Sri Lanka has recalled left-arm
pacer Nuwan Zoysa, leg-spinner Upul Chandana, batsman Russel
Arnold and pacer Nuwan Kulasekera.
The matches will be played in Kolkata (Feb 8), Rajkot (Feb
11), Goa (Feb 14) and Vishakapatnam (Feb 17).
The World Cup starts in the West Indies March 11.
The Rahul Dravid-led India is on a high following their
3-1 win over the West Indies at home, and are closing in on the final combination
of 15 for the World Cup.
Sri Lanka's last tour to India was in late 2005 when the islanders
were drubbed 1-6 in the ODI series, and now the Mahela Jayawardene-led
side would be keen to avenge that defeat.
